Dermaplane Pro™ Frequently asked questions
What other names is this treatment called?
Dermaplane Pro™ is a trade market technique, but it is also knowen as Dermaplaning, Epidermal Levelling and Dermal planning.
Does it Hurt, I hear it’s a sharp blade?
Nope! Not in the slightest, it is a very comfortable treatment. It feels like shaving your legs. If you have any concerns please let us know so we can help ease your mind. We can always try on your hand before starting so you feel less nervous. The tool that is used is small, easily controlled and in the safe hands of the technician.
Will I get cut?
Cuts are rare, but small little nicks like paper cuts are possible due to a very sharp blade being used. Often it is unintentional movement by the client which results in a small paper like cut. This resolves within a few days and only may sting when the skin is cleaned down directly after treatment.
Small areas of grazing can also be possible but often rare. Usually in areas where your skin is thinner, or naturally more sensitive. This also resolves very quickly.
How long is the down time?
There is virtually no downtime. You can go out that night and wear makeup with none the wiser. Because we mildly treat skin, healing and rejuvenation occurs very quick. Most are not sensitive after treatment, however if there is slight sensitivity it resolves within 24 hours. If this is you, we recommend staying makeup free until the following day. Sun should always be avoided to prevent burning in any case.
I hear it is bad for your skin?
Not true. When performed by a trained technician and in conjunction with the correct skin care recommendations, it is a very nice and beneficial treatment to have. Our clinic does not treat too deeply unlike other salons may. We believe when using it as an exfoliation tool, it needs to be mildly resurfacing to prevent the skin being traumatised. No dermaplaning treatment should be done to the level where the skin is left exposed, sore and sensitive.
How many times should I get it done?
This will depend on what you are treating and the level in which you are resurfacing too. If you are focusing mainly on hair reduction as little as 2 weeks can be suitable between treatment. If you are using it as an exfoliation tool every 3 -4 weeks can be suitable.
We will consult and give recommendations based on personal factors and skin type.
